      • Fairfax, Virginia Woman Killed In Possible Hit and Run Road Rage Attack
        May 06, 2012

For an update to this story, click here.

A Fairfax, Virginia woman has been killed in what could possibly be a hit and run road rage attack after she stepped out of her vehicle to confront another driver, and was run down by the driver’s vehicle, reports NYDailyNews.com.

Shelinda Arrington, 21, was struck and killed by a vehicle on Friday, May 4th sometime around 11 a.m.  The vehicle, described to be a dark-colored SUV then fled the scene.

The accident occurred on Harrison Lane, a few blocks from Arrington’s apartment that she shares with her mother. Arrington was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have yet to confirm that it is a case of road rage, but are not ruling it out.

"We don't know if the two knew each other, we don't know what they were exchanging words or got into an altercation about," said Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Mary Ann Jennings.

Arrington’s mother, Tanya Arrington, pleaded for the public to come forward with any information of her daughter’s death.

Fairfax locals say that speeding is the norm on Harrison Lane, and that vehicles often reach 50mph in the 25mph zone.

Fairfax police have put up billboards in an effort to bring the public forward with information into the accident.

We will update this story as it develops.

            Jan 17, 2012

During Safe December 2011, Fairfax County Police are reporting that DWI arrests were up 12 percent for December 2011 with 358 drunk drivers busted versus 317 arrested in December 2010.

            • Fairfax, Virginia Judge Dismisses Drunk Driving Case Of Former FAA Head
              May 11, 2012

A Fairfax, VA judge has dismissed the drunk driving case against former Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) head, J. Randolph Babbitt, reports UPI.com.

Fairfax City General District Court Judge Ian O'Flaherty dismissed the case on Thursday, May 10th, after seeing a video of the alleged traffic violation and deciding that the officer had pulled Babbitt over on a “mere hunch.”

Babbitt had been head of the FAA since 2009 until he was forced to resign in December after the incident in Fairfax.

The officer that pulled Babbitt over, Fairfax City Officer Mike Morris, reported that he witnessed him driving on the wrong side of the road. However, the important video that led to the case’s dismissal shows Babbitt making a left turn and crossing a double yellow line to do so, but never driving in the lane of on-coming traffic.

A prosecutor argued that tests would show Babbitt was over the legal limit of 0.08 after his arrest, but the judge dismissed the case before seeing test results.

Babbitt, an Eastern Airlines pilot of 25 years before becoming chairman of the FAA Management Advisory Council and finally head of the FAA, said that we he will move on from the incident will no ill will against Morris.
